CAIMAN is a project common to INRIA and CERMICS. Its main topics go from the modelling of various physical phenomena to scientific computing through analysis of numerical methods and implementation on parallel computers.
Applications are focused on electromagnetism and fluid dynamics. For electromagnetism we are concerned with high frequency scattering, inverse problems for geotechnics, propagation of charged particles in self consistent field. For fluid dynamics, we are concerned with the analysis and implementation of numerical methods for fluid/structure interaction, the study of vortex shedding phenomena, the modelling of forest fire propagation and wind effects on small scales.
Our interest in parallel computing led us to collaborate to the implementation of various codes and to concieve genuinely parallel algorithms.
