The aim of the Model project is to develop modeling techniques for aspects of systems performance and/or reliability. Two specific fields concerned by this research are communication and production engineering. The team's work is directed towards research for solutions that are machine-implementable.
Our main activities in 1994 include the study of dependability and performability measures of fault-tolerant computing systems. The model involved here are either Markov processes or stochastic graphs and the methods used to compute these measures are analytical methods, approximation methods, or simulation methods depending on the parameters of the models and the objectives of the analysis. We also start the study of the transient behavior of queues with applications in telecommunication networks.
