Abstract

CAIMAN is a project common to INRIA and CERMICS. Its researches cover a wide field ranging from the modelling of various physical phenomena to scientific computing, including analysis of numerical methods and implementation on parallel computers.

Applications are mainly on electromagnetism and fluid mechanics. For electromagnetism, we are concerned with electric discharge in vacuum, high frequency scattering, inverse problems for geotechnics, propagation of charged particles in a self-consistent field. For fluid mechanics, we are concerned with the analysis and implementation of numerical methods for (compressible and incompressible) fluid/structure interaction, for low Mach number flows and forest fire propagation.

We collaborate with SIMULOG for the implementation of the software
MAXWELL/VF on parallel computers.
