A large number of domains of physics and mechanics are modelized by distributed parameter systems, governed by partial differential equations which describe the spatio-temporal behaviour of the unknowns of the model. Two types of problems arise then naturally and their study constitute the aim of this project:
1. Identification of distributed parameter systems.
2. Optimization of these systems.
The main applications treated in the frame of this project concern the following topics:
- Plasma physics: identification and control of the equilibrium of plasma in a Tokamak.
- Micromagnetism.
- Optimization of a crystallization oven.
- High performance numerical methods for environment.
- Data assimilation in meteorology and oceanography.
