The endeavour of the project is to develop constructive
methods in the analysis and optimization of controlled dynamical
systems. The main topics presently under investigation
are :
- Approximation in the complex domain with applications to
the identification and design of linear systems and
filters.
A typical identification problem that we study is: given
estimates of a transfer function in a bandwith, we want to find
a rational function of given Mac-Millan degree accounting for
these data. This issue we approach in two steps:
(i) a bounded extremal problem that solves for a stable but
non-rational transfer function,
(ii) a rational approximation problem with fixed Mac-Millan
degree.
- Control and sructural properties of nonlinear dynamical
systems:
continuous nonlinear stabilization of certain classes of
systems that cannot be stabilized, even locally, by linear
controls, and study of transformations by dynamic feedback,
aiming at obtention of simple normal forms, in particular
linear.
- Dynamical games, optimal and robust control.
