Abstract

The pre-project Mostra relies on the skills acquired in numerical modelisation of structural mechanics problems, in particular :

i)

the numerical modelisation of structures made of classical materials (numerical locking of shells, mathematical study of mechanisms);

ii)

the numerical modelisation of structures using composite materials with recent developments on damage;

iii)

domain decomposition solvers for structural problems adapted to parallel computers.

Beyond these classical and passive new materials, the pre-project Mostra starts to investigate two new directions which are of great interrest for an increasing number of industrial companies :

iv)

the numerical modelisation of active new materials (piezoelectric, magnetostrictive);

v)

the use of such materials to realize control of adaptive structures.
