Abstract

The Solidor group is focusing on the construction of distributed systems and applications above scalable distributed architectures. In particular, we are interested in the design and implementation of applications having quality of service requirements. This leads us to investigate solutions in the areas of distributed programming and systems. Furthermore, we are experimenting our results through the implementation of distributed multimedia services on top of an heterogeneous distributed platform. In 1996, we have initiated a research activity in the domain of system and applications management. A first prototype of Etel, an electronic newspaper service, has been demonstrated. One important event has been the creation of a start-up company for the transfer of some of the results obtained by the Solidor project in the domain of fault tolerance.
