SYCO
The SYCO group is centered on the study of perceptive and
cognitive processes in their fundamental and applied aspects. Its
techniques and models are therefore mainly related to artificial
intelligence and pattern recognition. Research activities belong
to three main and complementary areas :
- knowledge-based systems : knowledge acquisition and
representation (objects, classification), reasoning models
(temporal, real time, case-based, etc.), multi-agent
architectures, explanation models ;
- connectionist neural-like models : biological models,
learning techniques, hybrid symbolic-connectionist models
;
- statistical models : second order Markov models, stochastic
trajectory models, language models, learning algorithms.
The models and techniques developed in these three areas are
used, sometimes in conjunction, in the domains of expertise of
the group :
- signal analysis and interpretation : automatic speech
recognition, radar, sonar and biomedical signal interpretation
;
- assisted decision-making : process monitoring and control,
real time reasoning, diagnosis ;
- mobile robotics : navigation, planning, multi-sensor data
fusion.
