Modeling Next-Generation Memory Architectures

We initiated a research topic on modeling next generation memory architectures that will mix different kinds of memories. Indeed the arrival of high-bandwidth and non-volatile memories cause computing cores to have different local memory banks with different characteristics.

The hwloc software  6.1 is being extended in collaboration with CPU vendors such as Intel and AMD to better represent these new memory technologies. We are working with Bull in the context of Nicolas Denoyelle's PhD on developing abstractions for deciding where to allocate the application buffers.
