Sparse analysis methods for Mesoscale Convective Systems (MCS)

In [20] : Mesoscale Convective Systems (MCS) are organized cloud systems which constitute the major part of the high cloud cover in the tropical region, where they can reach sizes of up to 1000 km in diameter. Under some favorable circumstances, they can eventually organize as tropical cyclones. Due to the complexity and the huge amount of available information, there is a need for an automatic tool able to detect and keep track of MCS in time series of these images. In [20] we have proposed a new method for the tracking of those cloud systems in infrared satellite images.
